I'm throwing a theme on things for 2006's show. To highlight all the super dancers we've got in this community I'm working in a "Super Hero" theme.

Its always been a good show in the past (this i'll be the 5th year) but I thought it might be fun to open it up to some real fusion this year for a change. When I started this there weren't any other tribal events in So. Cal so I kept it strictly tribal/tribal fusion but since there are a couple of others showcasing tribal around these parts now I figured why not have some fun with it and open the creativity curtains. I just love that people are so creative with this dance and want to encourage that.

Tue, August 16, 2005 - 3:53 PMOK, not trying to hijack this for Hips of Fury, but...we created an anime superhero named Taniko (she's on the tee). And Kris (my HoF partner) made her into a character on City of Heros, the online game.
So, I LOVE the Belly Dance Super Hero idea! Taniko slays undercutters and evil club owners, to name a few of her super powers. All while weilding a scimitar (often balanced on her head) and with pretty looking hands. :) -

Also Heather from Urban Tribal Dance Company has a superhero dancer lookin gal drawing in their pics. I think they even had shirts printed at one time too.

So about this show. Is it open to all dancers? Is there an application? It sounds like fun, and I would like to participate. :)
